I was working with someone who has XP MCE 2005 on his computer and would like to join it to a domain. I have used this link before without problems. (http://extended64.com/blogs/rafael/articles/404.aspx)
However, with this particular computer, I get to step number 19 which says:
Expand: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > BANANA > WPA > MedCtrUpg
I cannot find the MedCtrUpg subkey. Can I just create it? I don't think I had to do that step last time. The only thing I can think that I did different was that I installed the recovery consol from a XP Pro cd instead of from a XP MCE 2005 cd this time. Could that have made the difference? I can try to track down a MCE 2005 cd and try it again but I'm wondering if anyone else has come across this problem.
Yes I know it's not supported but I would like to make this work. There are a ton of programs on here that require a lot of time to configure. So, wiping it clean and installing XP Pro isn't an option at this point.
Thanks.
