i have a computer with xp already on one partition, i have a empty second partition and tried to install vista on that partiition (the same drive by the way). but after installing vista, the computer just loads vista and doesn;t give me a menu to go to xp. how do i fix this

Eeeks, I didn't have that problem at all. It installed it's boot-time selector and showed both OS's.

Are you sure the install went to the second partition, and not the XP partition by accident?

I have to agree with Larry, something went wrong. If XP is on the first partition, and Vista is loaded on the second, the Vista install should configure the bootloader for you......

Have to agree with the above people, I installed on a second hard drive and I get the boot loader on boot.

Might be something messed up on your install.

It sounds like you mistakenly installed Vista on the XP partition and overwrote it. You should easily be able to tell what happened by checking in the MMC. If you did overwrite the XP partition, I'm not sure if you can reverse that.
