I was looking to buy an LCD monitor and
I know it's our personal responsibility to
get contact info etc to not get "trolled".
However,
I just wanted to ask everyone if they
had ever sent any money western
union or Money Gram trading on the forums
or if it is something I should totally avoid.
Trick? and what's the tip to make the
transaction go smoothly?

try sticky uptop and for me its either postal money or non-cc paypal. both of which i find is much better. go with your gut feeling with dealing with ppl, swap personal info and what not and if deal is too good....pass on it. just my 2cents.

I did read the sticky. I have done deals before just never with
those two services.
Just being cautious. You are right.
I was just wondering if anyone has ever done any good
deals using those and if its just 100% stay away?

Not really,if there is no money in the seller's account they cannot give you back anything.

Both of those services have been associated with scams and other fraudulent activites. I would avoid them. If the seller is unwilling to accept a USPS Money Order, then I would be wary

Everyone including myself be cautious.

I agree never use WU or any wire service to recieve payments.
Now my question is with the CC thing on paypal...why is that so bad? I use my CC though paypal to pay for items when I can cuz then it is easier for me to track my expensise. So why is there a taboo on using a CC though paypal?

The deal with non-cc paypal is that you can accept it without having a business or premier account, and therefore not have fees. To accept CC paypal, you either have to upgrade to a premier account and pay a fee on all transactions, or, I think you can take a few each month for a higher fee without upgrading?
This is why many sellers will actually keep 2 accounts (which is okay by the Paypal ToS, btw), and will only use one for cc paypal.
In terms of the safety of actually accepting it, there is the risk of having the buyer do a chargeback with their CC company, but, there has been some recent changes in the paypal policy on that, and I'm not too familiar with what they are, as I've never had to deal with that.

AFAIK, that's not true... when I received my first CC payment, PP "made" me switch my account to a Premier account ("made" as in I wouldn't receive that payment otherwise... and at the time, the seller said that he didn't have any other way of paying me. Oh well...). Since then, I haven't heard of anyone that has been able to accept CC transactions with a basic account.
EDIT: (After looking at the link below...) I guess that the policy changed since I've made my account change. My bad....

But dont you risk any kind of chargeback from a buyer even if it was a non CC sale? I have heard that paypal take money away fro the seller first and then tried to figure out the problem and solve while the seller has to wait for the dispute to clear up before they see the monies again.
I guess there isnt not way that is absolutly safe to pay unless its like a MO or something. I have just started to buy online recently and let me tell you there is always a fear in the back of my mind if the item will be good or arrive on time ( having a problem with a power seller on ebay atm.... first item was out of stock though it was listed as buy it now, offered a exchange which we did and now we have waited 20+ days for item to arrive but this is a whole difrent matter)
Thats sucks that you have to have a specail account though paypal to take CC cuz that is what i use for online buying actually a debit card but they are pretty much the same concept.
