Latest update: Vista doesnt like to have other non raid hard drives. I read online to take it out. So, i just unplugged it and now everything is good. I must say, what a hassle! Installing Vista Ultimate finally.

UPDATE: Ok, I found some drivers for my raid and put them on a thumb drive and now my raid detects again! So I remade the partition to be safe. Windows is going to be installed on a 35 GB partition on my raid 0. So I do that, click next where I want Windows to install and I get this

The installation was cancelled
Any changes that were made to your computer during the installation process will not be saved.

Windows could not determine if this computer contains valid system volume.

Wtf?

End of update.

When I try to install Vista 64 bit on my pc everything goes just well until the partitions come up. I have 3 sata hard drives in total. 2x160 in raid 0 and 1x500 just for back up's. I have the 2x160 setup in raid in the bios. Everything works just fine. I'm comiang from XP Media Center and I had it working perfectly. When I still boot up it detects the raid 0. Oh, a big issue I'm having is I'm not using the Silicon Image raid controller. Just the main Nvidia one. My ports are 1 and 3.

I mainly used the following page for help. http://www.pro-networks.org/forum/about71854-0-asc-0.html

I've tried a few things to get this working.
1) Downloaded 64 bit drivers for my raid and put a usb jump drive. When I clicked Load Driver and put the drivers on, I would only pull up 1 file that instead of the 2 I needed. I know they are on the usb drive, but windows doesnt pull it up.

2) Went on a few forums and 1 guy said to rebuild the partition with XP Pro. And reset your pc and put Vista back in. Did that, still only showed 1 of my 160's in raid 0.

3) Putting a whole wack of 64/vista drivers on the thumdrive and adding them all. Still only seeing 1 hard drive in raid 0.

After all that and clicking refresh I cant count how many times, it just doesnt want to see my other half of my raid 0. Booting up it shows to be just over 302 GB's, but in the partion area it only shows 2 hard drives. 150 something gb, and my 500 gb.

If anyone one has any idea's what to do, please let me know.
Thanks,
Jason

Interesting.

it shows only 1 physical drive, but once in Vista, the capacity of that one drive is the combined capacity of the 2? Sounds like it has an issue displaying both physicals, but that it actually configured. It would be interesting to to run the throughput app...see if it is a raid 0..?

Um.. Isn't that the point? The 2 drives act as one?

If you set the RAID in BIOS, it should only show as one drive in Windows. If you do software RAID in Windows, then you'll see two drives in Windows. By doing the RAID in BIOS, the hardware hides the true configuration from the OS.

I have yet to fully install vista. The problem is when creating the partitions. I see only 1 of my raid 0 hard drives.

Yes, but with double the space. 2x160 = over 300 GB's. When installing it, it shows my raid drive as a single 150 GB. As if its not counting the other harddrive to its size.

When booting up it shows my raid 0 size has 302 GB.

Yes, my raid 0 is set in the bios. I cant install vista yet due to it only showing the size of 1 hard drive insted of the 2 combined hard drives.

Yeah, I've been there too. That was the other site I was going by as well.
Thanks though.

have you ever thought that maybe that the installer is reporting the wrong size, and installed and see if you get your 302GB instead of the 150GB reported....??

I'm having the same issues.. I have two 150 x 2.. and they are being detected as Disk 0 and Disk 1. I can't install Vista on a Raid.
