Upgrading from OEM version

I don't mean to cross post, since I asked this question in a thread started in the Hot Deals forum, but I thought I'd get a better response here.

I have an OEM copy of XP that came with a Dell computer (which installs like a regular version of XP with the added Dell drivers). If I buy the upgrade edition of Windows Vista Home Premium, would I be able to use that disc during the upgrade check to install Vista on my PC? Are there any licensing issues?

Vistas upgrade is a little different than XP. It requires that your copy of XP be installed and activated, before an upgrade is allowed. No more just putting in the disc to prove ownership

Yes, you can use the upgrade version without problems.....and BIGDADDY51 is correct on XP having to be installed first.
