I got a free copy of Windows Vista Business for attending some webcasts but I'm not sure if I should use it or not.

Most of my computer time is just spent online, but I'm also a PC gamer (just haven't been doing much of that lately since I'm moving next week).

Anyway, should I just stick with Windows XP for now? Or, since I already have the new OS, should I "might as well use it"?

My specs are in my sig and I probably won't be upgrading (which will likely be an almost full new build) at least until March when I have the $ to do so.

Thoughts?

:edit:

I also thought about just selling it since I could use the $ with the move and all, but it's sort of OEMish and says "not for resell" but I don't know if that
applies to the end user.

It would do pretty good on your pc, maybe just buy a cheap HD and install it on that.Or you could always save it for the new rig. It's illegal to sell NFR software.

After I posted this, I went to MS' site and downloaded their Vista Upgrade Advisor thing.

After it scanned my system, it said that Vista Business would probably be the best version for me to run!

Holy psychic upgrade advisor! :D

You're gaming performance will also be the same in Vista Business as it would in Ultimate or Home Premium....so don't let the name be a deterrent. When my Vista Business arrives in the next couple of days, I'll be running it on my work PC..which is in my sig at the bottom.

Which is why you sell a paper clip for $100 and it comes with a free OS!;)

Not For Resale means it's an OEM copy that the OEM isn't supposed to 'resell' - it's intended purpose is to be installed on a machine and sold with the hardware and not as a standalone product.

So every computer retailer that's selling OEM software labeled "Not For Resale" - and I've come across quite a few, including Newegg - is doing something wrong. It's not supposed to be sold/resold in retail channels.

What you choose to do with your own personal copy is entirely up to you.

I'm sure someone will jump on this and claim some law exists that says otherwise, but it's mine now, I'll do whatever I damned well please with it. I just put my copy of Vista Business up for sale myself. Can't do anything with it presently, and I can use the cash more than I can use a DVD sitting around.
