That's right, there are 2 new acessories soon to be coming in the US for the PSP. It's the PSP Camera and the PSP GPS Unit. It's seems to be that these 2 devices will only work on the 3.03 firmware.

The cam is known to be the PSP Eyetoy which will be in the U.S. around summer. The cam itself is a 1.3 megapixel, and it's res is 500 x 360 pixels, same as the PSP screen and it also features a microphone built-in. I don't know what the name of the GPS unit is so might as well just call is "GPS Unit," but I do know that this is going to be in the U.S. in summer also.

We've known about these for a long time now. The only one I care about is the GPS and I'm expecting that the maps will only be downloadable through a PS3 or some other bullshit like that. The Camera is practically useless, I have 1.3MP on my cell phone.

Where did you read that they will be released in the summer?

you know you can just import it from a website like playasia. but they don't have the software for it yet

It was listed on the japanese playstation site a couple of days ago. I also don't like the cam very much. Also the res I listed was what sony told me.

There is already homebrew software for the GPS unit that turns the PSP into a half decent GPS device. I was about to import the GPS unit myself, but the import store I normally use just sold out and play-asia has a rather long delay on shipping these things due to high demand. As for official software that uses the GPS, Metal Gear Solid can use it (and several other games), there is also a map program (with Japanese maps only so far), and even an astronomy aid. Pretty neat, but Sony is always slow about releasing things in the US after they release it in Japan.
