I usually watch movies with my HD280s. I just realized that the simulated surround sound has less distinct rear center and front center sounds than when I'm in gaming mode. It almost sounds as if front and rear center both sound like they come from the center of my head. Does anyone else get this problem? Is there also a way to have eax effects and more dynamic treble boosts in game mode?
On a somewhat related sidenote, what eax effects mode do people here prefer in entertainment? Personally, I prefer theater at -1 to 0 DB because it provides a more dynamic (not sure if thats the word to exactly describe it) sound with an acute and desirable echo effect. Of course, i could probably just prefer it because I'm watching a movie and creative tells me it's the mode for watching movies by naming it theater mode.

I like to keep my Entertainment Mode set in Theatre. For me it sounds best...I also keep it at 2.0Db. It isn't too echo-y.
I honestly don't know if EAX effects can be enabled in Game Mode...personally I wouldn't because I want my games echo-free. I can hear sound effects best that way. I know the option to turn EAX effects is available in Game Mode, but it doesn't seem to have any effect
As for the surround sound thing, I can't really help you there...I use 5.1 speakers and I keep the surround sound settings balanced in that they stay at 5.1 in the Speakers and Headphones display...I also synchronize it with the Control Panel if that helps.
The headphones you're using, are they surround sound capable?

EAX Turned off in entertainment mode. The only time I've run a DVD was for a Demo;)
