I bought the Logitech X-230 speakers a few weeks before Thanksgiving and they have absolutely great until recently. I think I may have blown the tweeters on them. I have been listening to some music that would be more at risk for blowing speakers (Rammstein :D ) but I would think that they shouldn't have blown in around two months, plus I didn't listen to my music THAT loud. The main problem I've been experiencing with them is that in heavier music they sound distorted and when there's any bass now it just sounds like crap. I had never gotten that before until about 2 weeks ago and it was on and off. I really started noticing it when I got home (new speaker layout and they are on a different surface). Most anything that is not real bassy still sounds fine, but when all I listen to is hard rock and heavy metal, that's unacceptable. I was wondering if you guys had any ideas as to why they are doing this (do you think I really blew something?). Maybe it is the surface they are on that may be causing distortion? Any ideas?

EDIT: I just plugged them into my brothers iPod and they sounded just fine. No problems whatsoever. I have a ASUS A8N-SLI Premium motherboard that has onboard audio. I just checked for audio drivers through the ASUS website and everything was over a year old. Would investing in a sound card be a potential solution? Also, I don't notice the crackling or distortion while playing games (such as CS, HL, etc.)

So you figured out speakers are ok, then its a problem with your onboard sound. Try updating the nearly year old drivers first, and if that dosent work yes, a new card sounds (no pun) like a good idea.

GL, post back :)
