Nero and .dat files in XP

I installed Nero a couple weeks ago and accidentally left all the file types to associate with Nero checked, obviously leaving me with a hard drive full of Nero files. I uninistalled Nero, then reinstalled and unchecked all the file types, which corrected all but the .dat files. Now I've got a bunch of these files all over my hard drive and cannot for the life of me figure out how to cut it's ties with Nero, and get rid of the icon and the "video cd movie" in the file description. Any ideas?

This just happened to me, too. I tried reinstalling Nero 7 and unchecking ALL file associations during installation. It helped...a little. I, too, would like to know.
