I had my PC on yesterday for about 5 hours and downloading some GOW HD videos from Xboxdye.com.
When I powered up my PC today, I find that my entire Video collection folder is missing. The weird thing is the files are still in the HDD (its very easy notice as it consumes around 45GB).
So the question is, is it caused by the HDD or the OS and can it be fixed?

Just to make sure set windows to view all hidden folders. Also run chkdsk and see if that comes up with anything. Are those files the only thing on the drive or did say one folder out of ten disappear?

Thank God I found the files but it was inside a different folder. Its that a sign of HDD failure or some other error?
PS: That folder contains 250 music videos (DVD MPEG 2 quality) that I've recorded over the past two years and it also includes few documentaries, a movie, Xbox HD videos, HD movie trailers and several epodes of Simpsons. I have backed up most but the new files are venerable lol

Sounds more like user error to me. I've never had files "move around" without my own help.
You must of moved it on accident.

That’s what I thought but I don’t remember accessing that part of the explorer for some time.
