I've got a new (albeit, slow) laptop that came with XP Home, and since all I use it for is internet and word processing, I figured I'd play around with it, and install Linux. Now I'm bored with that (not to mention I can't get my wireless NIC to work) and it's time to put Windows back on. Acer, in their ever wonderful genious, decided not to include a Windows restore CD. So now I'm stuck installing Vista RC1 (which I don't mind, I'm using it right now on my desktop). The problem is, I boot from the Vista DVD, and while it's loading the setup program (the very first load, in B&W) it finishes, then reboots. OR, sometimes it will start going into the actual install, and reboot, or go into install, and I'll get an error box, that just has a button and no words, I click, then it reboots. Any help here?

I can't believe how many people have Vista installed like it's a final OS, instead of just using legitimate OSes. Anyway, that being said, if you no longer want Linux on that laptop, your best bet is to wipe the drive clean using something like GPart. Then install Vista. On a side note, you should also ask Acer for restore discs.

No, it's just about to RTM status.....but the point still is, the final version isn't available to the public....and won't be for a little while yet.
