I have a dfi infinity mobo with stock sound.
I just recieved my iCEMAT Black Siberia Headset (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16836508101) today and im very excited. I want to get it working perfect for ventrilo but im having some problems, mainly with the mic. I have the one pink connector and 1 green connector, both are plugged in right.

I have tried it on 3 diff things.
Windows Recorder: All i get is a very faint voice
AIM Talk: faint voice and a lot of feedback
Ventrilo: faint voice, loud screeching sound. (also with the hotkey, when i hold the key down, it makes a rapid *ding ding ding ding* sound like im pushing the key, is this normal?)

Volume Control (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y5/DJS3/sound.jpg)
Audio Driver Config (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y5/DJS3/sound2.jpg)

If i can take anymore screenshots or anything to help you let me know. Im really a newb to sound and stuff so any help (i think my config or whatever is wrong) would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Mute the mic and see what you get.

Was that sarcasm? (yes im probably that stupid, heh)

anyways, after i muted my mic the Windows recorder just had ambient sound, and the AIM talk was moving like i was saying something?

Not at all, remember windows has two mixers.
One for the input (recording) and one for the output (or playback), and you will usually get rid of the "loud screeching sound" (feedback) when the microphone is muted in the playback mixer.

It sounds like you have "what you hear" (or analog mix) selected as the recording source.

In the windows mixer click options, then properties, then select the recording option and click ok.... check to make sure the mic is selected as the input source.

ahh ok, so the mixer device should be the same? for both its "Realtek AC97 Audio"

The only thing that changes by selecting recording option is that the 3 (cd player, line in, mic) are checked. Could it be the audio config driver settings, like the second picture that i posted, is wrong?

Id like to thank you and anyone else who takes the time to help, i really appreciate it.

Sounds like you missed the final step there.
When you click OK it will launch the "other mixer" (it should say recording control or something cryptic like that on top of it)

That one looks OK to me.
