I don't know what "2 Dual CCFTS" means exactly. Something about the way the panel's lit perhaps? Anyway, this mon can be had for $230 @ costco.com right now. That's cheap and from most of the reviews, it can be assumed a Glossy panel!! I know it's a Sceptre, but for almost 1/3rd the price of the NEC...

So does anyone have this yet?
 
I've enjoyed mine thuroughly for a while now. I'm probably going to grab another one soon to replace my 17" LCD. It has been great for gaming. It is also an excellent looking monitor. The stand is a little iffy though...pretty wobbly, if i had kids i'd be worried.

So I ask, is this indeed a glossy panel and from Scepter's spec page it says "Other stands (desktop & wallmount), is it vesa wallmount compliant?

Sceptre sells a height adjustable stand too. I just ordered the mon from costco.com to compare with the Dell 2007WFP and a Samsung 205bw. I'm looking at a crt right now and thinking maybe I won't like the glossy panel...
 
I'll check when i get home but it's nowhere near as glossy as the display on my sager laptop. What are the measurements of VESA...as I don't care to look it up to check.
 
Crazy price for a glossy screen. I'll wait to see how the matte 22" looks, but I'll probably pull the trigger on one of these.

Nice thing with Costco if you don't like it, just take it back no questions asked. Shipping refunded too.
 
Yeah, you know how people just "make sh1t up" sometimes. :rolleyes: With the viewing angle, I'd think S-IPS, but at that price... Mine will be here on Wed, I'll report back w/ thoughts compared with the Dell 2007WFP/FPW (whatever it's called).
 
Bought it from costco for $230 cant wait :). Its a upgrade from my NEC 1970gx... Now time to run dual monitor glossy :).

did any of you guys get sceptre yet? i too am interested but would like some feedback before buying :)
 
Got it hooked up now.

Pros:
Glossy screen rocks, no SDE!!

Cons:
Backlight bleed
Slight color wash

Any ideas as to how to take a better pic? It's hard to capture the SDE, but whites are white on the Sceptre...they're dirty on the Dell. Gonna do some gaming here in a sec...

EDIT:
Just got done with some BF2142 and I must say, glossy gaming ftw! Everything looks smoother and "glasslike."

No chance it's an S-IPS panel unless Sceptre is lying about the 5ms response time. Even the fastest IPS (NEC 20WMGX2 with AS-IPS) is still 6ms and cost over $600.

Also...Newegg shows the shipping box and in 2 inch high letters it says "20.1" 16:9 Wide hi-res lcd".....is it really 16:9 instead of the 16:10 of all other 20" widescreen monitors? If it's a mistake then I wouldn't buy a product from a company that let something that big slip through the cracks..
 
All I can say is white on Dell 2007 makes me wanna puke. The Sceptre's not perfect, but for $230. :D Find me another Glossy for that $$. The difference in browsing and gaming puts a big fat sloppy smile on my face.

I've tried to tell people here that the glossy panel on my Acer F-20 eliminates the fuzziness as well as the screen door effect but there are still some who think SDE is a part of lcd panels no matter what.. :rolleyes:
 
I like my environment darkened, and watch a lot of movies, so that massive backlight bleed is a dealbreaker for me. Thought it might have just been unlucky samples for some, but it seems everyone on newegg is having pretty much the same level of bleeding. Too much to hope for the price I suppose.
 
I think that may be the next upgrade to my current box!!

This will definitely accomodate my GeForce 6800GT perfectly....

How does it do that? It is a physical fact that all LCDs have SDE unless you are mixing SDE up with something else. SDE is screen door effect, it is caused but the small black space between pixels. It has always been an issues with all kinds LCDs from projectors to monitors.

I have examined many glossy screens and they have all shown the same SDE that I see on matte screens. I checked out about a half dozen Glossys on NEC GX2s, HP monitors and various laptops. They all have the same SDE. Unless your gloss screen does some major blurring, you still have gaps between the pixels.

Gloss screens eliminate the fuzzy dirty sandy slight color shifting haze on top. That is from the Matte screen coating. That is not SDE.

The F-20 is way out of my price range otherwise one would be on it's way to my doorstep. It's a lot of cash to shell out for a monitor and not everyone has the cash >_<(sure wish I did). So for anyone who can't shell out around $600 for an LCD then they are stuck with the matte mesh stuff.

To continue along the topic I think this monitor is a TN. Now way an S-IPS would sell for that little ;).

Yes, you are right. When I press my nose very close to the screen I can see what you're talking about...however with the Dell I can see it at normal viewing distance along with the dirty dish water AG coating. And just in case you're wondring...I do have both panels running side by side on my desk. The Dell wins on every count except for overall looks and the most important thing..image quality.

You read the thread, right? The Sceptre's $230. That's cheap.

Alas, all is not perfect with the glossy Sceptre. Just as soon as my eyeballs wander over lusting after that perfect white background, they are greeted to a jarring sensation of "sparkly text." Yes, it's the new evil and causes me to look upon the Dell, continue reading my article and relax the eyezballz.

Summary after spending 24 hours with both...

The AG screen may have drawbacks, but in the end I find text to be read easier on the Dell. I guess it's a good thing, cause it means I get to keep this glorious S-IPS panel with it's killer color rendition, perfect consistency with regard to blacks, and all the ergo features.

For gaming, I find the glossy screen slightly clearer. Response time doesn't matter across the panels. The biggest winner here's the Dell's colors. They come across more natural than the glossy's "cartoonish" appearances.

For movies, they both suck. But hey, that's why there's XBR2/3's and Aquos', right?
 
can anyone here compare the 22" to the 20" (X20WC-Gamer vs x22wg-Gamer)?

the specs say that the 22" has a higher contrast ratio but no glossy screen, and the 20" has lower contrast but has the glossy screen. on costco, the 22" is $300, and the 20" is $230
 
Glossy makes everything look more clean and sharp. My Sceptre 20" gamer should be here any min... UPS guy is most likely around the corner :).
 
Just got my LCD in :). Comes with a DVI cable btw for those who dont know. So far it looks nice im going to hook it up in the next 10 mins or so.
 
The washed out, color shifting, backlight bleeding, sparkling text finally got to me. For $100 less than the Dell, it's a bargain tho. Here's to hopeing for no backlight bleed on you guys!!
 
I really don't notice the back light bleed so much. Maybe it's cause the room is so bright...i dunno.
 
I got it setup it runs fine I noticed a little backlight bleeding in the corners but for $230 dollars for a glossy screen! Im not complaining it runs games fine just got done playing Supreme Commander beta and it looked great :).
 
Nasty...

Gamma's a bit wonky and even after adjusting seems to skew colors a bit too much. Using the blacktest from an Anand reader's site and moving your head even an inch changes the color dramatically. Even the slightest angle on this panel will show color wash. Wa(sh)tch my colors!

Minor and slightly fixable...

1. As I type this it dances...the stand sucks...oh how it sucks.
2. The blue SCEPTRE is finally starting to get on my nerves. And even when covered by black tape, leaks out onto the buttons.
3. The lack of height adjustment puts it up too high for my eyes. From the table to the top edge of panel (not including upper bezel): 15 1/2 inches
