hey all, i need to get my laptop connected to my school's network, which is done over a vpn. i already have my username and password, i just need a client to connect with. i'm using suse 10, and tried looking to see if yast had any vpn clients i could get, but there were none. how can i connect to the vpn? thanks guys.

well.. I know zilch about Linux & vpns, but under Freebsd you basically have to create the virtual tunnel interfaces, get some kind of authentication going (racoon), ESP for encryption.. and that's just between 2 freebsd's w/ ipsec. For connecting to a Windows VPN, you'll probably want PPTP -- no idea how to set that up.

Take a look at openvpn. I've never used it personally, but I hear it's pretty good. I can't recall if it includes a client or not, but there's a lot of docs for it out there
