Just got a new HP F380 all-in-one unit today for $70 at CompUSA

I didn't bother with the HP CD because it's got bloatware I don't need/want so I downloaded the 30-someMB driver package from HP. Installed it and all went well except now I've got a safely remove hardware icon for my printer.

How can I get that to go away? I was able to set that icon to "always hide" but it's still there and it annoys me.

That's normal for USB printers. I've seen quite a few USB HP printers, and they all have components in the "Safely Remove Hardware" area. I'm not sure how it bothers someone, since it doesn't do anything, but it's normal.

How can I get that to go away?.

Disconnect your printer....

Alot of usb devices do this.. jump drives, ipods, cameras etc...
I don't think there is any way to make that go away, short of disconnecting the device..

I've owned four or five USB printers since USB became popular and none of them have ever done this...

...was just curious.
