Lost volume OSD on Windows MCE

Brand new machine with Windows Media Center Edition, works perfect except that initially I had a volume on screen display for whenever I changed volume or muted the sound.
The OSD seems to have disappeared for some reason, and I did not install any additional keyboard / mouse drivers...

Does anyone know what could be the cause of this, and how to recover the volume OSD?

I wish... just don't want to install the drivers for my old logitech keyboard just to get the OSD... it's styrange that the Windows MCE OSD disappeared like that though. On my last system, they're still there. I can't find anything searching on Google either for this one...
