Is there any free software that i can use to wipe my hard drive so i can do a fresh install of xp? cheers guys

I'm pretty sure you can just boot off of your XP cd and re-format your drive.

Assuming there is some reason you can't do that, you can use
GParted.

i usually stick with ibm scrub or wipedrve. they are commercial, but both work equally well. I have them as floppy images that i memdisk off of cd. I also put dban on that cd but it takes what seems like 10 times longer to do 3 passes. :confused:

I have used DBAN and Autoclave where I used to work, also just a PPC distro live CD in since it wouldn't boot the PPC DBAN.

Gotta agree with Dban if you want to really remove the data but if you just want to format for a reload use the built in software that comes with xp to format the drive.
