Building a new computer Abit Nforce 550 with AMD64 4200x2 and a new WD SATA 2 drive Geforce 7600gt

Managed to install Abit NVRAID windows xp drivers at F6 and "s" prompt on initial setup

windows continues loading and after EULA acceptance says cannot find hard drive

As directed I have disabled RAID and sata drive shows up in BIOS as an IDE drive

Have enabled RAID and SATA 1 (board has 4 SATA slots) and tried that, then no hard drive shows up in BIOS I have yet to see a SATA drive in BIOS

are these the correct drivers???

reading the forum I have noted some people say windows xp 2 should recognize sata w/o needing driver disk

others say its needed I have tried both ways

Any ideas, please

What I'd suggest is slipstreaming the NForce drivers right onto your Windows XP isntall CD. Also, if your disc is pre-sp2, you can download the SP2 network install and slipstream (aka load) it onto a new disc image for you to burn. The application I used to do this is nLite and you can search for some guides online.

Hopefully MS pulls their head out of their backsides and fixes this in Vista or a third XP service pack. Of course, if its Vista they'll probably trumpet it as some amazing new feature so they can fool more people into buying the bloatware.
