I just installed a Seagate 7200.10 320 gig hdd and cannot get windows to auto detect it. I know that the sata raid controller is detecting it however because i can see it under device info in the controllers properties. Ive searched the BIOS and cannot find anything relating to the SATA controller or SATA HDDs. Any ideas? I'm using an Asus A7N8X Deluxe with onboard Silicon Image SiI 3112 controller

The Asus P4P800 board I had was about that vintage, and it still required SATA controller driver installation for SATA drives to work in Windows. Seems like only stuff made in the last couple of years or so lets you get away without it for some reason.

Best thing I can think of anyway.

Have you formatted in disk management yet? I always forget to do that.
