Laptop HDD Question

I have an IBM T23 laptop, and the hard drive is on the way out. The only problem I am running into is I do not know if the ATA 6 spec hard drives will work with this computer. If you could point me in the right direction, that would help a lot!

Pull the drive out and look at it.

there is no info on the drive itself, but after some digging on IBM's laptop, I figured out it uses the ATA-5 spec. Now I have run into a problem, there are no ATA-5 spec hard drives anymore, evrything is ATA-6. Will these HDD's work in my computer?

EDIT: I did some further digging around on the net,and found it should work, but i would like some confirmation.

I've not seen a higher-rated drive not work in a lesser-capable system. In other words, it's pretty much all backwards compatible. You just won't be getting the highest available performance.
