Alright, I thought this would be the best place to voice this issue, as it appears to be due to my OC, but if I'm wrong please move it to the appropriate forum.
Until tonight, I was running at a 270 FSB, and everything worked perfectly. I, being on the ever-continuous quest for more power/speed/performance (who isn't? :p), decided to increase my OC a little more, to a 275 FSB. The OC seems stable (I completed 1, 2 and 4 million digits in SuperPI and played Oblivion for about half an hour), and working well. However, now my PCI audio card (Creative Professional/E-MU DSP 0404) seems to be generating "artifacts", so to say. When playing Oblivion, a random, very loud hum (like a hydro transformer almost) appears randomly. I'm not sure if this is an error in the game, or because my PCI bus is a little too overclocked because of the increase. The sound seems to occur whenever another sound should be playing, but it's really hit and miss, and no errors are generated playing music in Winamp.
I think it's the PCI being too overclocked, but I can't find any options to change that independant of the FSB. Anyone have any ideas/have had something like this happen to them before?
P.S. Yes, I know I could just turn the FSB down again, but who does that? :p I'd rather find out why the high clock is causing this and fix that then lower it again.
