I dl'd the AOL search files. When I opened them with the default program (notepad) the text was not formatted correctly. When I tried to open it with IE, it opened with proper formatting, but hung up about half way thru opening.

What it the best way to view these files.

P.S. 10 files about 217,000kb each

You might try something like Wordpad. It tends to follow formatting a little better. If that fails, you can always try Word or whatever your favorite word processor is. If it is formatted more in the way of HTML, then you could try something like Frontpage.

I am just taking a guess here. I have no idea what an AOL search file actually is.

Aren't these the files AOL only wanted a select group of people to possess? It was on the [H] frontpage a day or so ago.

Try open office. I have had good luck getting large text files opened using this software. There is a HTML code veiwer included.
