So I was online today when I friend pointed out that anandtech was having a 'Harddrive grudgematch'. So I went over and had a look and the 320GB segates were battling Western digital driver. The seagates were pwning them as usual so I checked out newegg and the drives were going for $99.99 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148140)
I didn't know if it was a glitch or a good deal so I picked up 2x Seagate 320GB for 199.99 total! There was even free shipping!
I've never known newegg to give such great deals but I just had to snap these up. :D

I have one of these and I love it. My dual opteron installs windows to it in about 15 minutes :)

I doubt that, my Raptor takes almost 15 minutes to install winxp pro (15 mins includes 10 minutes to format the long way)

wouldnt the speed of your cd/dvd-rom determine the install moreso than your dual opteron?

I doubt that, my Raptor takes almost 15 minutes to install winxp pro (15 mins includes 10 minutes to format the long way)So you're saying the actual install, not counting formatting, takes 5 minutes? I'd have to see that to believe it. My dual opterons with 15k rpm Fujitsu MAS SCSI drives on a PCI-X controller (definitely faster than a Raptor) takes longer than that.

Yeah, it's mostly the speed of the cd-drive and the hd speed. I just automatically type "dual opteron" so I know which comp I'm referring to :)
And yes, it is about 15 minutes, could be a few longer. I've installed xp on a raptor 150 before and the speeds were similar. Peprendicular recording ftw! Incidentally, that raptor died after about 5 hours of use

Are counting the ntfs format, the long format way?'
I don't think ppt speeds up the drive at all...just allows more data to be stored on a platter...
