Second sata drive

I have a western digital wd800jd caviar se sata hard drive with windows xp pro installed. I just bought the same hard drive for more space. My mobo has two sata ports. Is their a trick for windows to see my second hard drive? It blue screens during boot up. I thought you just connect everthing, boot up, then partition and format in disk management?? What's missing?? Do I still need to mess with the sata drivers on floppy that came with my motherboard?

I called western digital and they had me use a jumper to force sata1. Not sure why I didn't have to on my other drive?? The computer boots up fine now.
