c'mon - cruddy graphics, bad/laggy controls, 1/6th the size of a widescreen display in the very middle???
not a good arcade title!

I have a big wide screen 57in TV and that game looks tiny. It looks like all the new 80's classic games are going to be the same way.
They could have made it as big as they could top to bottom. That would be big enough to enjoy. Its just way to small like it is.

I can't believe you're complaining about the graphics. It's supposed to be a faithful conversion of the original arcade game

I have a bad feeling that Contra (one of the best games ever) won't scale either. They showed a picture of it at E3 and it looked very similar.

OMG I HATE FROGGER WHYEEE DID TEHY RELESE IT I WANT SFII OMGHAX CRAP GRAFIX!!!
Have you downloaded the full game? There's a setting that expands it quite a bit. Without that setting (basically, the demo) it looks like crap. After changing it, it looks much better.
But, I do have an answer for the title of the thread: money.
If you don't want it, don't buy it. I'm sure a lot of people will buy it for nostalgia's sake.
I also don't know what you're talking about with the controls...they seem pretty tight to me. (Maybe something is wrong with yours? I dunno)

I hope that Street Fighter wont be like this...
That had better fill my god damn screen!

The funny thing is you can already play streetfighter2 on like a million platforms.
Kawaks and other emulators. I've had it on Kawaks on my PC for years. Xbox. PS2. SNES. Every platform known to man.
I got this gametap thing the other day, two week free trial, it has several Streetfighter series, Sonic, Pac-Man, etc. Along with about a billion other old games.
There's really no reason to wait for these games on live. So be quiet.

Who said anything about waiting for them? I certainly didnt...all I said was that it had better fill my screen...
So...erm...you be quiet.

I don't think gametap lets you play your friends over the internet does it?
Just that is a huge advantage to the XBL version.

It will be interesting to see how they handle SFII.
It will look like shit if they do a pixel perfect arcade translation with no changes and then you play it on a big screen TV.
The arcade only had 384×224 resolution or something.

Yeah, it was probably something like that except the numbers were flipped. The screen is taller than it is wide.

MS needs to set their priorities first... it's a freaking 360 the most powerful system on the market right now, instead of releasing real games they invest in... godamn frogger.

Yes, because all other projects had been put to a halt to work on and release Frogger.

They probably make tons of money off it too.
One staff programmer ports it over in a week and they'll sell it to tens of thousands for $5 a piece. The license from whoever owns the IP has got to be dirt cheap.
They need to get some better games before I would consider buying an X360.

The Capcom CPS-1 arcade hardware that SF II used,
does run at 384×224.
Also look at this picture of an arcade machine.
Looks like width > height screen ratio.

They better upscale the resolution and filter it at least.
That low would look pretty ugly on a big plasma. LOL

I think people got confused in this thread: frogger was taller than it was wide, because it's really freaking old. SFII is normal.
And in case anyone else is confused, a setting is there under "options" to make the screen bigger in Frogger.

Again, I say, "It's a port. If you people didn't like it back then, you're not going to like it now. Period. Stop whining."

Sorry to break it to you kid, but it's called an OPINION. There are a lot of them on the net, get used to it...

I find it hilarious that you criticize a 25-year old video game for having boring gameplay and unimpressive graphics. You really, really don't get it, do you? Or you're just trolling.

Who are you to say to anyone that they don't "get it"? Your opinion holds no greater weight here than mine does so step off the soap box. Considering that other games, such as MBU was revamped with the latest graphics the 360 can provide and placed in the arcade, no i dont think its too much to ask that some of the other games can get a makeover. It is perfectly reasonable to think that since it's been done with other games.

Let me post a contrarian opinion: this game is awesome for non-gamers, due to its simple controls and gameplay. My wife was able to jump right in and play, and we had a good bit of fun playing together in the two-player mode.
I don't think it's a replacement for Oblivion and GRAW, but it doesn't need to be.

The thing is, we don't want it to get a "makeover"... Frogger is one of the greatest games of all time. It would be a travesty if it were updated.

No one asked for frogger to be remade with newer graphics! hah
It wasn't about the graphics back then. I got frogger on my GBA and I don't complain! It's a fun OLD game. Holy cow!

If your opinion is worth the same as mine and his, don't you think that you shouldn't tell people to "step off the soap box"?
Just sayin'
