ubuntu won't install on my fujitsu laptop

i turned off 'quiet' mode on the install (dapper drake 6.06)... it gets to

starting system log daemon: syslogd, klogd.


and hangs permanently. i tried a liveCD, it got to login, but never past that point (well, not to desktop ZOMG USE TEH COMMAND LINE LOL), so i DLed a 'server' (permanent install) CD, and it won't even get as far as the LiveCD.

well could be a number of things. could be a bad cd-rom, bad hard disk, or even a bad burn. i have successfully installed ubuntu on a pc and love it. head over to the ubuntu forums, you'll probably get more support there.
