hi there,

i was having alot of blue screens latetly (like 9+ in a day) and the system kept freezing too. the temperatures were ok i checked them with everest (no oc) so i formatted and reinstalled winxp. the blues still came so i made some virus checks did found something but i cant remember the name of it (was deleted tho) untill yesterday it were mere blue screens and i could still boot like nothing but now everytime i boot it says ntoskrnl.exe is corrupt and i need to re-copy it. so i inserted the winxp cd to get to the repair console but i get an error about some corrupted .sys file so i entered my 2nd xp cd but the same happens (random sys file btw). so i thought lets do it different then i plugged the drive out and used my external case and hooked it up on my notebook. the drives all cool i copied the ntoskrnl.exe from the xp cd into system32 and placed the drive back to the pc. first it just frooze, not it says again ntoskrnl.exe is corrupted.

so now i am here i dont know what to do anymore im trying since 4hrs to fix my system without any succes.

thx for reading and for any answers...

here some system specs:
p4 3ghz
1024 dual channel ram
80gb ide drive (maxtor)
asus p4c800-e deluxe
x800pro

I'm guessing you haven't run Memtest or the HDDs diag tool yet, because it wasn't mentioned. If not, run them. You also didn't give us any details about the BSODs. The codes on those screens help pinpoint the problem.

well atm i cant run anything at all, i cant get into the system anymore. installing xp is impossible i still get those errors (corrupted blablbabla)

there were 4 different kinds of bsods:

IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL
DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL
PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGED AREA (or something like that)
and a error that didnt had any msg it just said windows had to be shut down to prevent damage ect.

the bsods had those msg in random order, also installing other OSs doesnt work either.
im sitting in a dark room atm infront of a tiny 14" notebook screen *_*

that is a bug, or could be memory error
get ahold of disk utility tool and low level format the drive
than start from scratch
or see if you can get into safemode and turn off system restore and do a scan with
AVG/spybot/ad-aware/hijackthis

That's why I was suggesting that maybe you should give those things a try. Had you checked them out, you'd see both utilities run from their own boot CDs, so it doesn't matter if the OS is borked or not.

Look into a possible solution before you shoot it down, especially if you are asking others for help.

I've seen those same things 3 times in the last month

2 computers were just bad memory

1 of the computers was a bad mobo (drivers installing on it through windows wouldn't allow a full boot into windows because they were wrong. firmware but the firmware was unable to be rewritten.)

I'd say memory first.

I have seen it many many times, more times than not its memory
sometimes it can be a bug

i had the same problem.... for a year...

turns out my memory was faulty from day 1

nothing would show up in memtest tho, occassionally it would go off the charts with 100+ errors... other times, nothing.

i'd say it's your ram... but that's just my $.02

I like windows memory diagnostic myself.

If you don't get a positive on memtest give wmd a shot.

Is that the one that runs in Windows? If so, avoid it, as it's not an accurate scan of the memory. The point of having Memtest run from a bootdisk to be able to scan the memory without an OS running.

try to find out which stick is bad
take one out, try to boot it, if you get same error.. swap the sticks and see if it works
hopely only one stick is bad and not both

i just ran memtest and the error number went sky high not a single test passed, i shutted down the system and changed the postition of the RAM (they were at slot 2 and 4) i also went to corsair.com and checked on some stuff. they told me to set some setttings in the bios for the ram, and now my system works again! : D

thx alot for the support guys, im so happy my rig runs again! ^^
