Hey, I'm really kind of getting curioius about the whole two-panel luck-of-the-draw thing with Dell 2007FPW flat panel monitors, or whether the LM201WE2 is even in ANY 2007FPWs whatsoever.

Post your info in the thread and vote on the poll.

Supposedly there are two kinds of flat panels manufactured by LG Electronics that are used in the 2007FPW: the LM201WE2 and a slightly older version of the same panel, the LM201W01.

To find out which panel your 2007FPW uses, enter the diagnostic menu by doing the following:

1. Turn power off.
2. Hold down the "Menu" and "+" buttons on the front.
3. Power on but keep holding "menu +" until the screen powers up.
4. Wait until the connector info dissapears off screen (ie, dvi connector/Dsub).
5. Press "-" button.

You should now see the diagnostic menu and somewhere on it will be the panel type, LM201WE2 or LM201W01. You can power off and back on now to get back to your desktop (or there may be an easer and more obvious way of exiting, I don't own a 2007FPW yet)

There really isn't any conclusive data about this yet, so I'd appreciate your contribution to my little study here! :p

Thanks.

I have two 2007FPW and both of them are using the "older" lcd. But, I must say, I have no banding, no dead or stuck pixels, and no blacklight bleeding, so I couldn't be happier.

I've got 3 of these LCDs (all A02's), and they all use the "older" W01 panel.

Same. My first two had pretty visible banding, but ever since Dell replaced them with the new revision, I've been a happy camper. :)

I'm beginning to think that it's all but urban legend that any WE2's are out there after all.

It is. I have been following the 2007 monitors since they came out. Reading on the Dell forums etc... I have seen dozens of people report their panel type. There has never been a variation in the 2007wfp. Every one has exactly the same panel. This is just a rumor that behardware propagated.

Now the 2007fp has changed panel from S-IPS to PVA and if you bought one today I am not sure what you would get. I bought one when they were S-IPS but unfortunately I got a PVA model with banding and text blur. I got fed up with the LCD crap and bought a refurb Trinitron instead.

So are people lying when they voted for the WE2 version?

Just got this monitor, it's amazing and there's nothing wrong with it but coming from a 2001FP it doesn't really have that much of a wow factor other than that it's widescreen. I would have liked to go for the 2407fpw but since there is still banding issues I feel like I should keep this one.

Doesn't this monitor have the same exact banding issue? Or was the 2007wfp completely fixed?

The 2007wfp has been completely fixed with the A02 revision as long as you keep it in desktop mode. If you switch to theatre or gaming the banding comes back.
