Ok this is a long story...so I will take it from the top.
My computer crashed a week ago from what I have come to find is me installing and uninstalling to many files to fast. I was overclocking and looking for the best hardware monitoring software I must of co,e acroos 2 dozen that I tried out. Well one of the times when I restarted my computer it said "No NTLDR" or some thing like that. So I installed windowson a different partition to trouble shoot the problem and to look up solutions on the internet.

Well when I did that I found that my C deive..the whole partition was gone so did a lot of research and found some software that brought it back. And I fixed the NTLDR problem. And it booted just fine. Then to avoid the problem that started it I used a program that defrags your registry, It gave me 11% and theen when I rebooted it was the same old "No NTLDR issue again. But now I knew how to fix it so I did just that but windows would not boot ( now let me tell you at this point my wife was getting upset cuase this is a 15 Hr problem) It game me this error<Windows root>\system32\hal.dll. So what did I do....I fixed that with about 2 hours of google you can conquer the world...well almost.
But now it says that my hardware is not working...so I just do the thing where you press enter instead of R to enter the recovery console and it brings up a page telling me that I have two windows operating systems and select the one I want to repair. So I did that and it "re"installed windows over the old one keeping all my settings and files in place which seemed to be that answer to my prayers....until...I tried to acess "my computer" then it froze and I got an error saying that windows was not the version that is says it is and this might cause instability issues.
Well you see my disk is SP1 and since then I had upgraded to SP2. After I closed that window, windows crashed and deleted my partition again. So I went into my other windows partition and used Partition table doctor and brought it back up. Followed by Disk doctor and rebooted. Then windows said it had installed a new device (my HD) and needs to be restarted. So I did and my harddrive was there with all my files so I tried to enter the recovery console and add that windows using bootcfg /scan then boot cfg /rebuild but it does not detect it.
So I load up into the other partition of windows and sure enough the partition is gone. So I do the same thing again Partition table doctor followed br Bisk doctor, followed by widows . Then it is good so I restart and try to add it to the boot list only to have it deleted again. I have done this 4 times now and am at a loss.

How can I get the partition to stay and why is it only in windows then gone?

Please help.
Also when I view that hard drive form the other windows install I can acess all the files on it except the document ubder my name in Documents and settings. It says access is denied. How can I bypass that?

1) You need to run some diag tools, and stop meesing around with worthless utilities. Undo any overclocking, run memtest and diags for your hard drives. I'm not sure why you think you need to "defrag" your registry, but don't waste your time.

2) To bypass the access denied, you need to right click on the folder, go to the security tab and take ownership of the folder. If you were using the same username and password as before, this shouldn't be an issue.

I have ran both memtest and chkdsk and both show no errors. As far as the defrag the registry I didn't know better.
When I right click on the floder it only gives my "general" "sharing" "customize" Is there another way to "take ownership"?

You need admin rights to take ownership I believe.

You need to try a diag for your hard drive...usually from the manufacturer's website. chkdsk isn't really going to do the job that's needed here.

To take ownership of the file, as djnes said, you have to be logged in as an admin. To get the Security Tab to appear in the Properties of the file, you need to follow these steps.

1. Open the file (or any file)

2. Click on “Tools”

3. Click on “Folder Options”

4. Once the Folder Options menu is open click the “View” tab

5. Drag the scroll bar to the bottom of the menu

6. Uncheck the checkmark in the “Use simple file sharing (Recommended)”

7. Click OK
