ok i have a K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI motherboard with a hdd for storage on IDE channel 1, a dvdrw drive on channel2 and my boot drive is is on SATA, now im trying to simply add another HDD for storage or maybe install another OS but when i connect it as slave on either channel i get boot problems like it says it cant boot from the hdd or BOOT FROM CD comes up, its like its trying to boot from the new hdd and not booting from my old ones?, i just want to simply hook up the new hardrive and boot up like i always do, why is this being such a problem, i looked at all the settings in bios, set boot priority and everything wtf?

Did you check that all jumpers were set correctly on the drives? If Cable Select is used, set them explicity to master or slave.

yes i have tried everything i am really stumped, its not making any sense its something to do with the SATA being the boot drive,
in the BIOS boot priority i always need to set the ATA storage drive i have as the first boot drive them the SATA one or it wont work either, i dont get it.
i should not have to change anything just hook up the new hdd then boot up with a new storage drive then do whatever

what seems to be going on is the hdd's and dvd drive connected to the IDE channels always get boot priority even if i set the SATA drive as the first boot device , the computer will always try to boot from the devices connected to the IDE channels first?
