I bought a new Dell B120 and of course had to format it as soon as I got it because of all the pre-installed system boggers. Anyway, now when the laptop is turned on, it asks to select which operating system to start and lists Windows XP Home twice. The first is my new install and the second I'm guessing is the old one. However I deleted all partitions when I formatted and have done this before and never had this problem. When I select the second "old" install, it says "Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem. Could not read from the selected boot disk." I've done this many times and never had this issue. I looked around in BIOS and could find nothing. Its not that big of a deal but it is VERY annoying. Is there a way to get rid of this?

Thanks for any responses.

Start msconfig, go to the boot.ini tab and click check all boot paths. If you only have the one install of XP that should remove the one that doesn't work from the boot.ini.
