what are you system specs. also you may want to try the normal format on the drive and not the quick if you are doing that as well.

Disconnect anything you don't need to install XP. Scanners, printers, web cam, USB drives etc. Then try again. I would reformat the drive to get rid of the 4 partial installs you already have.

Before you try and reformat & reinstall, I would run Memtest from either a floppy or CD to check your memory for errors.
Luck......... :D

And do a full format (either with a boot CD or even just deleting all partitions on you OS drive (be careful not to delete anythignt hat ahs useful data on it)), that shoudl fix your problem with the bootloader "seeing" several different OSs.

It sounds like you reinstalled Windows over the top of previous install without formatting. If that is the case, you might have a very messy install in place that isn't going to run well becasue of version and permission conflicts. You may have to reinstall again, while making sure to format.

You may have to reinstall again, while making sure to format.I don't think the installer adheres to the permissions that are set on the folders and files that it replaces. It deletes the old install before it installs the OS.
I have run into this problem and one time it turned out to be my CDRom drive that was the culprit, another time the copy I used was no good and another turned out to be the fact that I was overclocking during the install using settings that Setup just didn't like.
The other fellas have good suggestions as well. Good luck.
