Only out of the options given, obviously the nes controller was not very comfortable :p

I'll go with the original Xbox monster bearclaw controller here. It wasn't that awful though, the only one I have ever truly detested was the N64 controller.

On the opposite side of the scale, PS2, Xbox360, and Dreamcast all have wonderful controllers.

I've never been to fond of the Xbox controller. Those 2 little black/white buttons drive me crazy.

Personal opinion after using them all... (Best to worst):

XBOX
PS2
XBOX 360
XBOX S
Gamecube

Yes, I know - I'm odd. I just never really liked the smaller XBOX controller even though my hands aren't that big. I really don't like the gamecube controller at all.

gamecube, those shoulder buttons were horrid and the d-pad was tiny.

Damn, I think the gamecube is one of the best, moulded perfectly to my hand... well, to each his own :)

PS2 - Never could get the hang of the shoulder buttons and it just doesn't fit my hands right.

I like the original monster XBox controller. Use a modded version for some PC games
Just been too cheap to buy a 360 controller for it...

This should be interesting...

Your XBox choice is a little vague. Do you mean the original, gigantic XBox controller, or the XBox S controller?

And I bet you can guess how I voted.

CodeX

Yeah, I would be really surprised if the 360 gets a single vote, that is one nicely refined controller

Honestly I didn't know it had been remade... The original giant one was my intent

WTF how could you leave out Dreamcasts? It was the worst controller period. Who the fuck thought it was a good to have the cable come BELOW the controller was smoking serious crack. Gamecubes was the most comfortable, with Dual Shock coming in second, Xbox S controller coming thrid.

The Duke rocked...but then I have mansized hands.

I'm voting for the Dreamcast...which should be on the list. I think the Gamecube controller is nice, but since I'm a fighting game fan, I find it horrid for that style of game. I need a linear layout of buttons, not one big one and a bunch of oddly-shaped surrounding ones. That and the d-pad isn't in a comfy spot. Sadly the Xbox 360 isn't really good for using the d-pad either, though. It's too far away from the edge for my tastes.

I didn't include the DC's controller for the same reason I didn't include the NES or the genesis controllers, they are older obsolete designs and I am not interested in them.

I thought the gamecube controller was awesome too. After playing Smash Brothers and Metroid Prime on it, I was hooked. I thought it was a little funky at first with the huge a button, and the other weirdly shaped buttons.... but its definitely the controller I can hold onto the longest without my hands hurting =P

GC controller is great, but i cant stand those 'clunky' L and R triggers.
screw the analog concept of it, its still uncomforable and clunky.

I don't think any of them are uncomfortable, but I probably like the PS2 controller the least.

Controllers Best to Worst

360
Dreamcast
Xbox S
Xbox Gigantor
PS2 Dual Shock
Gamecube

I really dislike the shape and configuration of the Gamecube controller. Whenver I play a crossplatform game on gamecube it just feels wrong, where as it feels right on all the other systems. The buttons seemed to have been placed hap-hazardly by someone on LSD and I loathe the c-stick, they should have just had a regular analog stick like every other controller.

From most comfy to least comfy:
GC - Perfectly shaped for my hands.
Xbox 360 - Close to perfection, the GC's controller feels a bit better though.
Xbox S - Just a bit worse than the 360 controller.
original Xbox - Nice and chunky but hate the button layout.
PS2 - I can't stand those analog sticks and whenever I hold it, my hands cramp up.

Of the choices given, dual shock is the worst. Not as bad as Dreamcast though.

Close tie between the Jaguar controller and the Saturn Nights controller. They were big, bulky, awkward pieces of garbage.

This past gen's worst controller award goes to Xbox for similar reasons.

Concerning these new consoles from best to worst:

1. Wii
2. Xbox 360
3. Playstation 3

the cube controller is comfortable without a doubt, but the shoulder buttons feel cheap, the z-button is stiff and ill-placed, my thumb constantly slips off the analog stick, the c-stick is straight up retarded, the d-pad is tiny and useless, and the facepad buttons, well, I'm not sure what they were trying to accomplish there with the different shapes, but they failed at it whatever it was. If they wanted to emphasize the a-button as the main button for most actions in their games, then I kind of feel a little insulted that they don't think I could figure out which button a game uses mostly for its actions on my own.

Oh, and you should have specified which xbox controller, since the machine actually shipped with different ones.

Indeed the cube controller is nice to hold but the layout is pretty bad. I like the xbox s controller personally.

Atari Jaguar :p

I voted PS2. I like the controller layout, it's just that it's slightly too small for my hands. The Xbox and GameCube controllers are fine, and the Xbox 360 controller is pretty much perfect.

The SNES joypad is proberbly the worst pad I've used. It wasn't too bad when it was first released, but after several years using the chunkier DS/PS2/X-Box/GC I tried playing some old SNES games and the joypad just hurt my hand after a few games, It's far too thin.

On a side note, I find the D-pad on the PSP annoying for some games, I wish they'd used the same concept as the Dual shock D-pad.

The Joypads in the poll are all pretty good tbh, I prefer different pads for different game types.

Amiga CD 32, what the hell were they thinking. The Atari Jaguar's pad was a bit ropey.

Certainly the PS2 controller is the worst out of the bunch....those joysticks are so stupidly placed.

and shame on whoever criticizes the SNES controller. I still use it to play my SNES and classic emus, and I still love it!

I enjoyed the PS2 controller=)

Just wanted to point out 1 thing..........
Anyone notice that in all the "Poll" threads involving the 3 systems no matter what the poll is asking...the results are basically the same?

Just thought I would point that out=)

I really love the GC controller... but I did find my hands cramping up pretty bad after a shooting range sesh on RE4.

I'm suprised to see that most people picked the PS2 controller. I think it's a great controller. Oh well...

GC button layout is kinda sloppy in my opinion.
PS2 left analog stick is very annoying

The original Xbox controller was too bulky but it wasn't painful. It was just unintuitive.

The Dreamcast should've made that list. The edges of the handles were sharp and those bumps on the analog stick were torture after a few hours in something like PSO.

The PS2 definately is the most painful of that list if you're playing a game that requires the analog sticks. They're located in such a bad place.

Wow, I hadn't expected these results.

What I find funny, is that Sony is going to keep the controller design exactly the same, even when it's said that it's the worst controller of all consoles available. Either they are very based on the Japanese crowd, or just never took the time to create a poll like this. Either way, it could be a mistake they are making. :)

(Please don't see this as possible flame bait, it's not ment that way)

All sony had to do in my opinion is swap the d pad and the left analog stick.. that's all.. and i wouldn't be so hostile towards the DS2...
