well, a few days ago i had this error, saying something in system32/config system was corrupt and the only way to fix it was repair through windows xp cd. that didnt work, so i ended up having to reinstall windows, thus deleting everything. i was kinda pissed, i lost alot of my music, pictures, and other files.

what i was wonder, was if there was a way or a program, in which i can recover some of my pictures or music.

i lost pictures of prom, of local shows, friends, ect and those are really important to me.
music can always be ripped or re downloaded [LEGALLY] (hxcmp3.com).

thanks in advance.

Yes, it is definitely worth all $80. Had to use it yesterday after realizing swapping to a new controller and initializing the new array blanks out the disk. Stupid me. But GDB worked!

i found a free trial demo of GetDataBAck, ill see if i can recover anything from there. but from what you guys say, it sounds like a must have program.

GetDataBack works very well, I've used it with pretty decent success. One thing you should do is not use the PC until you get it installed and start recovering, since the files that have not been overwritten by new data should still be recoverable, but since those areas are marked as blank now, any new programs, temp files, cache, etc can be written in those areas that data resides, making it unrecoverable.

the unregistered demo of getdataback worked in a way. i found a loophole. i was unable to copy my files back. but i found out that you can preview pictures and play music. i just had to edit the pictures in paint, then re save them on to my computer. and for music and movies, i just had to open them in wmp. from there save them to my computer.
