Hello guys,

I am running a Win2k3 domain on my home network. I have two domain servers, one in Germany the other one here in the US. I have a VPN connection that the server in germany establishes to my Linksys router. I have installed a DFS root to hold a couple of links for my_documents, profiles and each user's home folder. they are redirected using site costing in order to prevent excessive VPN traffic.

There are three subnets in my network: 192.168.0.x for germany, 192.168.8.x for 100 Mbit in the USA and 192.168.3.x for a x-over cable with GbE between the server and my workstation.

My DC in the USA has two network cards one that is connected to my router and one that is directly hooked up to my main workstation.

Due to the VPN the DC from Germany gets an IP on the USA subnet, so I excluded his address 192.168.8.216 from the US subnet.

Most of the time everything work nice and well, but recently -ever since i recovered my DC from a HDD crash- I had problems with my home folder (on DFS) disappearing from the domain root.

In My Computer, I still see Z:\, but it says "disconnected network drive". The werid thing is that if I enter \\domain\data (which is the DFS root that I am using) I still see the "homedirs" link and can follow it to my home directory without a problem.

Any ideas?

Have you tried disconnecting the mapped drive and re-connecting it? When it show disconnected, can you click on it and browse the directory anyway? Maybe this will help:

things I would try

I assume you hvae done this.. disconnect Z: and reboot

log in with the domain account on another machine/installation and see if the same results happen
