I've used the crtl + Print Screen and it does pretty good, not doesn't look the best when printed. Are there any programs out there that you know of that will take a really hi-res screen capture, better than the the ctrl + print screen?

Thanks!

The print screen button is a per-pixel accurate bitmap image of your desktop. What you do with it (in terms of compression) is where it turns downhill.

The only downside that I see with print screen is the lack of usability - you need to paste it into a program, then work on it from there to compress and save it.

If you want an all-in-one, then I would reccomend a program called Snag It - its not free, but it works like a charm, especially when you're capturing either motion on your desktop or complete web pages (it'll automatically scroll and image the entire web page).

I use Snag-It. It's the best screen capture program available.

Well, I'm capturing the screen with Print Screen and then pasting it into something like Paint Shop Pro or MS Paint. I'm not compressing the image. I'm saving it as a Bitmap, trying to maintain as much of the original quaility as possible. It looks good on the screen, but when doing any printing it gets a little blocky.

I may give that Snag-it a try.

Thanks!

Check your print options. The res of the photo is limited by the res of your screen, if you have your printer set to scale that image to the whole page then it becomes distorted.

Well, actually I was just trying to print something in the 3 x 5 to 5 x 7 range. And it still looks a little blocky there. Guess there's only so much you can do with screen capture.
