Hi, I have a hopefully not so dumb question. I have XP and run a router along with Sygate 5.6 free personal firewall. I noticed I have UDP entries with my local mac listed as the remote mac going to a local mac that doesn't match my local mac(hopefully you got that, lol), router mac, or modem mac addresses. In these entries the remote port is 1034, local port is 1900. Is this UPnP? What's with the mac address I don't recognize? I don't have any virtual adaptors installed.

Also, if I look further down my logs I see the same thing but reversed, a remote mac I don't recognize(same mac as the one I didn't recognize above) going to my usual local mac which I know. Same ports are involved, but the remote port is 1900, the local is 1034(I read services.exe uses this).

Is this normal?

Thanks

It would be extremely helpful to post a log file here for us to review. ;)

I looked at the logfiles you sent me via PM.

It's the UPNP service in XP that is communicating with your router. Here (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/expert/crawford_02july22.mspx) is a very basic article describing what the service does.
