Lanwar's MML 5 and WSVG-Over $110,000 Cash & Prizes-Registration OPEN

The Big One

=========

This year is bigger and better than ever! Over $110,000 in cash and prizes to be given away and four times the size of previous events! We have partnered with The World Series of Video Games. This is the kickoff event of the WSVG’s tour and MML proud to be a part of it. It will be held in Louisville, KY June 15-18, 2006 at the Kentucky Exposition Center (KEC) Southwing C, with over 166,000 square feet of space. In addition to the BYOC area, there will be a 300 pc professional tournament arena, a massive XBOX Live section, tons of exhibitors, concerts, and more. Thanks to the partnership with WSVG, this years MillionManLan will be the largest gaming event in US history.

The Registration

============

Registration OPENED TODAY for the event. You will need to pay first before reserving a seat, registering for a pro tournament or signing up for fun stuff like duct tape wars etc. Group seating is available as in the past as well as seat swapping. Check out the hours of the event under the FAQ. MAKE SURE you read the FAQ since there have been several changes from past events.

Professional Tourneys

=================

The professional tournaments will be managed by the experienced WSVG staff. Please read the rules and guidelines prior to attending the event. You can find them at www.thewsvg.com. Also if you have specific questions regarding the professional tourneys, check out the forums to get additional questions answered.

BYOC

=====

Keeping the “party” in lanparty, Lanwar will continue to manage the BYOC area at all of the US WSVG events. So yes, massage therapists, case painting, tug of war, music videos and other craziness will be in order. Always remember… You can never have too much duct tape.

Your Account

==========

To make it easier for everyone, we have joined the accounts for Lanwar and WSVG. If you have an account on either site, you now have an account on both. Changes are automatically replicated between databases.

The Pricing

========

Event Pass for all four days: $65

So what does this mean for you? You get access to everything. BYOC, Tourneys, Exhibitors, concerts, etc.

Also, something new for this event is there will be NO sleeping allowed in the hall. To offset the cost, we have negotiated great rates with several hotels. Some of our favorites allow four people to a room, free shuttle service and even breakfast. Got questions??? Email me at bbabe@lanwar.com

You have to leave your PC there alone from Midnight to 10am.
They've raised the price.
The LAN isn't the main attraction.
No food allowed inside unless its from a vender.
No Bawls, period.
No sleeping. You have to get a hotel, which can get quite pricy.

In general, no thanks. WSVG has completely swollowed LanWar and made it into a buisness. I really wanted to go to MML5, but...

I'll pass.

In case anyone is wondering, theres a huuuge thing going on on the MML boards. No one likes the new rules, not even LanWar Staff. They found out the same time everyone else did.

I'm not going to flame.. but yea.. MML5 has been looked down upon by many people around me too.. Same croud that went to MML4 and were dissapointed.

So no, nacho probably wont be there.

I hardly had any fun at MML last year and I left a little early, I was at MML3 and last year something was just missing. I'm not really sure if I am going this year just because I'm not much of a gamer these days and I don't want to deal with all the crap again.

Last year we had 24? people driving down with us... this year... 0.

Not going. They turned it into a business and seem to not give a shit about the gamer. This is all about media, money, and professionals playing... completley cutting out joe blow like me out.

Their signups are also pathetic, only 396 signed up for this lan, this is their weakest attendance yet. These 396 includes multiple seats claimed by the same person, also includes unpaid seats. I suspect more people pulling out of this lan very shortly. They were aiming for 3,000 people. Normally they are sold out by now. 30 days remaining.

But I'm with all you guys, I'm not going either.

I'm going for the fuck of it.
At the least I signed up for the tournaments and hopefully I can get some free shit.

Yeah its 65 bucks but at the least it can't hurt to go and make my final decision about how the Lanwar staff sold out.

I'm skeptical but you know what, it's a LAN and for fuck sakes I'm going to have fun hell or high water. We got our friend hooking us up with a Best Western hotel for like 60 bucks a night.
Fuel + food + booze = somewhere around 200 bucks total per person. SO all in all I'm only spending like 300 bucks for a vacation road trip plus the chance to win some shit.

No complaints here.
I'll be sitting in Charlie Section at the end of the row.

I personally know some of the Lanwar staff. I don't think its them selling out, but I hear there's some corporate underhandings going on with some of the higher ups of the organization.

I just hope it's not going the way of Oakbrooklan, which built a lot of hype, and then folded...:(

I'm not even sure if I can make it this year or not. :(

LOL I was supposed to run ALL of the tournaments for OAKBROOKLAN.

That's sad.

This dude who used to run 3 years of LANs in the Midwest (wally from Lanaholics) decided to go in with Langasm and Laniacs crew.
Wally pulled out and left Laniacs and Langasm crew burned as he was the guy with the full logistics and hookups for a midwest LAN.

He failed and created a terrible scar on the midwest LAN scene.
Whats even more terrible is that the current Langasm crew has decided to shut doors on doing LANs in the Chicagoland area because they are tired of doing it.

Only if I can get enough people together to spearhead a dope LAN that all Midwesterners could come to.

Hopefully this summer I'm working on. Help, equipment. and good people is all I need.

Such is life. I hate seeing the LAN scene die around me.

I'm thinking about going. I don't think they have "ignored the average gamer" I think they did what they had to do to survive. Lan have been dying off left and right since boradband and wow came out.

I for one am glad there is an professinal event within 400 miles of my town now. Screw going to AZ or TX but I can drive to KY. I hope it doesn't flop. Good luck MML.

Well the hype was worth it in all honesty.
As I type this I sit in the BYOC and I'm very impressed with the event.
Signage could have been better to show you WHERE TO GO and where to register.

The event itself has been alright. The only thing is that 60% of teh event's attendees show up on Friday and the T3 pipe they have here is already saturated with junk traffic.
The network is nice and stable, there's games aplenty, and the vendors are generous with giveaways. Today alone i won a Antec UV LED light kid, 2 intel pillows, a couple tshirts, and this damn nice keychain LED light.

Plus it's nice that theres some XBOX360 action going on here as well. If anything this has got to be the most diverse LAN I've seen in a while.

I'll be posting pictures daily. I'm planning on having them all up by this morning from DAY 1.
Check them out at www.psykomantis.com

Enjoy.

100+ Pics posted from day 1 and 2.

Again the UGLY truth of where to go and where to register strikes again!
I missed the Project Gotham tournament by a complete day.

Ah well.
Still having a good time.
Last night the ATi reps were handing out x1900xtx cards for all sorts of goofy stunts such.
Then i got mixed up with like 8 people in a impromptu XBOX360 Fight night tournament.

Came back from my hotel around 3 here and the LAN is now MORE populated then ever.
All the blank spots have been taken up and this is officially under way for more fun and mayhem.

I'll be uploading more pics tonight after our BF2 tournament.

GG MML.
