Went to Wash U in St. L - great city - lots of FREE stuff to do. Free art museum, free history museum (think Lewis & Clark Expedition and the 1904 World's Fair/Olympics - the first time ice cream cone and hot dogs were introduced...) and FREE World class Zoo.
All in Forest Park, a huge park in the middle of the city. Makes that one in Manhattan look like a postage stamp.
Go to the "Hill" for excellent Italian food.
Order "Fried Ravioli" for an appetizer.
Go to Talyana's for St. Louis style pizza (thin thin crust 4 cheeses to the edge - no outer "crust")
Go to Mi Lee's for excellent Viet/Chinese.
Go to Fitz's for excellent brewed on site root beer.
Go to University City for eclectic mix of bars, restaurants and shops.
Go to Laclede's Landing on the Mississippi for night clubs and dancing.
(Washington Ave should still be clubbin too.)
Go to the casinos.
Go to the Bowling Hall of Fame (as in knock down pins with a bowling ball.)
Go get frozen custard (treat similar to ice cream but richer) at Ted Drewes, and get your kicks on the famous Route 66.
Go take the free Budweiser brewery tour (free samples for those 21+)
Go to Soulard for a taste of Rythm and Blues music (and get doughnuts at John's Doughnut...)
Go to the City Museum and explore the oddness...
Spend some extra time and go out just west of St. Louis to the wine country - such as Hermann, Mo. (free samples too.) and taste wines that rival Europe and California.

Order "Fried Ravioli" for an appetizer. But if you don't want to sound like an out-of-towner, don't call it fried, call it "toasted ravioli". Heh.

Sounds awesome, but I'm busy that day. Hope it goes well!!

Like he said above, show up for lunch and leave later that afternoon.

PS I'll be coming from Wildwood, so I think I have a bit farther drive than you. :p

First thing I would have to do is buy those games and learn how to play them. Never been to a LAN event before. Do you have to bring your own computer? My Athlon xp system is barely fast enough to run Battlefield 2 from what I understand and my thermaltake case would be to heavy to be lugging around. Ah, what am I talking about? I'm to old for this and my wife would kill me if I bought anymore games. Maybe I'll just come out and watch for an hour or so.

Those arent the only games people play. A lot of people play pick up games. Just gotta find out whos got what and play. Other than that its a good experiance.

Just had to point out the fact you say 200 person LAN in the title then 150 person LAN in the summary. Nice false advertising. :D

eits
03-17-2006, 03:56 AM
it actually is a 200 person event. 150 pc gamers and 50 xbox gamers. it clearly states that in the event summary.

it'd be different if i went and told companies like xgbox, or any other company that had a policy not to sponsor events less than 200-250 people) that we were going to have 200 people at a venue that could only physically and electrically support no greater than 100 people (i.e. the st. louis science center). THAT'S false advertising.

MAKE SURE YOU PREPAY!!!!

- you and your team can reserve seats to sit with each other
- RESERVE YOUR T-SHIRT SIZE!!! if you don't, you'll get whatever's left.
- it helps us buy you door prizes that you'll want
- IT'S ONLY $16! would you rather pay $16 or $20?

Question - Would this be worth going to if I can't make it until around 4 or 5 pm? I hate to reserve a seat but not use it for half the day. I tried to talk my wife into doing my son's 1st birthday on Fri. but she's doing it on Sat.

eits
03-29-2006, 06:14 AM
dude, your wife's say-so and son's first birthday is more important than a lan party. have fun with your family :)

however, if you still wanted to make it and had the time to, if you reserved your seat, you can still game for at least 5 or 6 hours, meet new people, get a free laclede's lan 10 t-shirt, and win a sweet door prize (pre-payers get to have their names drawn for the best door prizes, like coolermaster cases, etc).

unless you'll piss your wife off by leaving the house after your son's party, it's still worth going.
