I installed 2003 server on an old 1.4Ghz desktop. I want to bump this up to a cheap gigabit nic. Do I need to buy one that specifically supports 2003 server or can I use drivers from another version of windows? i.e... does a XP driver automatically work as a 2003 server driver.
Thanks

yes, you should have no problem using it...
I did the same thing early on with 2003 when it didn't support a Netgear NIC that I had.

I would think you'd have trouble finding a Gigabit NIC that wasn't supported. I put one in my server that was an Intel 1000 MT adapter. I paid $20 for it at a computer show.

I just got done with a group of 2003 Servers that wouldn't recognize the onboard NICs. Installing the drivers manually worked when I pointed the driver wizard to the XP disk. It found a set it liked, and Windows Update replaced them when I checked them for updates.
