I'm running XP Pro SP2 /w USB2. All my ports are working. I know, cuz when I plug something in, say a flash drive, it shows up in device manager. The strange thing is, it doesn't show up anywhere else. There's no autoplay that asks me what I wanna do. It doesn't even show up on My Computer. When I type F: it doesn't work either. I reinstalled chipset drivers and everything.

What else can I do to fix this? I looked it up on google and I can't find any solid answers. Please helpme.

I would guess that your USB drive isn't initialized. If you right click on "my computer" and go to "manage", click "disk management" on the tree on the left, and a dialog box should pop up saying it wants to initialize your disk. If the box doesn't come up the drive still should be in the list on the right somewhere so find it and right click on it, hopefully it will let you partition / format it.

I did everything according to your direction, but it wont let me do anything. It says that it's not enabled.

Edit:

OK, when I select "Open", it opens up and I can do stuff. But do I have to do this every time I wanna use my flash drive? How do I fix it so that it shows up on my computer or autorun and ask me what I want to do.

Once you've initialized it once it should be good, for most drives you don't even need to do it at all, just the odd time when I buy a new hard drive or something this happens.

Maybe if you right click on it and go to "change drive letter and paths" and assign it a drive letter that never gets used like Q: then it will always get Q: when you reconnect it.

Edit 2:

When I pluged my XD card reader in and inserted my 1GB XD card in, the card reader itself shows up, but I can't see it in the manager. I know the XD card is working.

Is there anything else I can do? I don't want to format and reinstall everything. =\

Did you disable the drives? Download TweakUI and look for the drives tab.

I did a repair on windows to see if it fixes anything. Fixed nothing so far. I'm trying out TweakUI.

Edit:

All drives are enabled.
