Does Windows MCE 2005 qualify as a valid product to upgradge to XP Pro?

Some jackass here ordered 2 new machines with MCE on them, and MCE 2k5 doesn't allow domain joining.

So now I need to upgrade / re-install to XP Pro, and need to know if I can do that from MCE 2k5 or if I need to purchase a full retail install.

Nope (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/upgrading/matrix.mspx)

I didn't install it to a domain, but I thought MCE2005 could be joined to a domain during the initial setup. I've also seen websites on how to enable MCE2005 to join a domain, but I'm not sure if this would be "legal".

If this is a business with a domain, wouldn't you have VLK licenses, or is this a very small company?

It's a small company.

And I was checking in that reg hack, and if we update anything theres a chance it will revert back and break stuff.
