I just bought a new 2.5" enclosure for my extra lappy drive and had a bit of an idea.

I was thinking about making 3 partitions on it.

One partition for windows

One partition for a Linux based OS

One partition for storage

I would boot to it through USB 2.0 when I am on the go, say at a computer in my high school. I am taking a couple classes and the OS's on it are always messed up.
Anyone ever done something similar to this before? Bad idea? Good idea?

Most likely a bad Idea, though, I'm not sure why.

Very bad idea...aside from the horrendous performance you will get, the USB bus isn't meant for the same I/O input as what's needed for an operating system. Many people have tried such things, and all have come to the conclusion it flat out sucks. That's not even discussing the changing hardware from computer to computer, either.
