Hello,

My primary HDD crashed with the system files being corrupted and missing.

I am trying to recover some files I had on it by setting it up as an extra HDD on my 2nd computer.

Problem: I password protected my profile and I cannot gain access due to the password.

It has been years ago since this happened to me and I forgot how to disable those password protected user profiles.

Please advise, I appreciate your help.

If your simply getting an "access denied" message, then you need to take ownership of the folder.

Since you are one of the experts on this subject, can I put in a formal request for a sticky on the subject? It gets asked quite often enough that a sticky would help.

Heh.. I'll see if I can fit that into my schedule. :p

Your right though, it does get asked quite often and seems like more and more people just want the quick and easy answer instead of attempting to google "take owership (http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=%22take+ownership%22)" which would result in *many* hits providing the information thats needed. ;)
