Hell, give it a shot...if things don't work out for ya, at least you can spread the word and no-one else will make the same mistake.....but really, how bad could it be? ;) good luck! GO 64!

dont waste your money on x64, drivers suck atm for anything and dual opty will be horrid, wait for vista.

Curious workstation setups are exaclty the market taht x64 is geared towards. DO you have any real reaosn for your statement that a dual opty will be horrid?
OP: if you have all driver support and all your apps are go sure. If not and you don't feel like finding ones that will then no.

Dual boot... sort of the ultimate safe mode. I run XP 64 bit all the time except for about 10 minutes every coupla weeks when I need to access a 16 bit program or active x page. Otherwise, 64 bit is smooth sailing. If you dual boot, your rig is gonna be so fast that even if you have to reboot into the other OS it'll take 30 seconds. Go for the 120 day 64 bit trial. No risk. No cost.

XP64 will be just fine, seeker.
I've been running x64 since the Tech Tour.
K8WE
2x Opteron 254
4gb RAM
7800GTX, etc...
The system runs perfectly fine. No driver issues, other than Logitech's Elite keyboard and MX510. But...I wanted the G15 and G5 anyway, so no real issue.
Only problem I've found is that Alcohol 120% still doesn't work.
But, if there's a problem with drivers or software, odds are quite good it's the manufacturer being a dick and not providing software/driver updates.
As for dual opty being horrid, what the hell are you smoking? It'll run any
and every modern compatible OS prefectly.

There's no harm in giving it a test run. I mean, what's so hard about getting a trial, or just getting a copy for a few days? I wouldn't exactly buy it. I would just get that trial or whatever it is that's out.
