Ok so I was watching a movie with my gf the other night and I noticed I wasn't getting any audio from the center channel. Today I finally got around to trouble shooting. I redid the speaker ends with the same speaker wire and that didnt work. I made a whole new speaker cable and that didnt work either.
It seemed to me that the center speaker had blown some how but then I plugged it into one of the front ports and it started working. I then plugged one of the front speakers into the center channel and that speaker did not get any audio. So it seems that the center channel itself is blown somehow. I tried blowing out the connector ports but that didn't do anything. Is it possible to repair this or am I looking at new speakers? :(
edit: Yes I verified my PC was in 5.1 mode :]

I get the same problem with my creative 5.1 SMS on my audigy 2. It's not your speaker configuration, its some setting in your sound card.. I just can't figure out what on mine, as I have everything set how it used to be..

Try resetting the card in the control app before anything else. Sometimes a setting gets corrupted, and a speaker will drop, or speaker order gets skewed.

Mine does that sometimes (center channel dropping out), you wouldnt happen to be using nvidia purevideo would you? I'm pretty sure it is the culprit in my case, havent figured out how to fix it though.

Chastity,
Where in the app is the reset option? I am not finding it.
I am not convinced it is a software problem as this was an actual dvd in my dvd player hooked up to my logitec receiver. I tried it in both 6 channel direct and dolby pro logic movie modes and both produced no sound. I've also tried the PowerDVD software suite and divx video player and windows media player with ac3 divx movies.
When I do a speaker test with the speaker wizard I get some faint low bass sounds when it says "Front Center" for the center channel but thats it.

My center channel died way back when i had the z-680s. Basically a part of the amp crapped out and took the center channel with it. The speaker itself worked, but the center channel terminal on the amp didnt put anything out.

Then don't. Just get a receiver to use as an amp for all of your speakers, and you should be able to run the sub pre-out from that to the line in of the Logitech control pod, and just have bass through that.

I've considered this.... but I think to get a receiver that I want it would cost as much as getting a nice set of pc speakers...

Hey guys just thought I would give an update....
My dad is an electrical engineer so I thought I would run it by him to see if he though he could fix it. Well anyway he took it apart and found a blown fuse. He replaced the fuse and the center channel is now working again!! :)
