I have a athlon xp 3200 and the motherboard supports up to pc2700 ram. Does this mean if i bought pc3200 or higher that it wont run in my comp. I was reading the faq and it said just cause your motherboard only supports up to a certain ram does not mean it cant use higher ram. Does anyone know if I can use pc3200 on my comp.
I have a compaq presario sr1230nx.

it'll simply use the ram at the mobo's max speed, if the ram is rated for faster than the mobo's speed.
there are some rare cases where pc3200 won't work at pc2700, but it's so uncommon, it shouldn't be worried about

Get the faster ram. OEM's used to be really really bad about proprietary parts, but that was 5 years ago. You should _NOT_ have a problem with pc3200 because Compaq used a pretty standard VIA KM400A chipset for the thing.
Also, with the faster ram, you can use it in other systems that actually make use of it if you decide to part with the system.

Was there an XP 3200 chip that ran on DDR333?
