I need to create partitions on a hard drive in order to multi-boot.
I'm working on a 9GB hard drive, using Partition Magic 8.0 and I need to multi boot Linux and Windows.
The computer will mainly run on Linux, since it's a folding box. The NTFS partition is only for testing my WinXP Unattended CD installations. Once I have the unattended CD configured exactly the way I like it, I'll delete the NTFS partition and resize the Primary ext3 partition for Linux.
Currently on the hard drive I've installed Ubuntu, so the partitions look like this:
Created by Ubuntu:
Primary Linux ext3 1804.1MB
Primary Extended 431.4
Logical Swap 431.4
Created by me with Free space on Primary ext3 partition:
Primary unallocated 7538.3
It should be noted that the ext3 partition is the first one on the hard disk. The unallocated partition comes after.
Now, I'm a total noob when it comes to partitioning and linux. Ubuntu basically sets itself up, so that was more or less automated.
However, my question is that when I made the primary partition for Windows, Partition Magic pops up an error that says it crosses the 1024 cylinder boundary and may not be bootable. Any way around this?
Thanks for the help,
