It depends on which edition you mean. And it may depend on which kind of connection you're asking about.

He said server. If you configured a license logging server, you could set a limit based on the number CALs you had. But, most people don't do this. So, generally, it's unlimited.
Windows XP and Windows 2000 Pro have a 10 connection limit.

Of course, changing that is easy. 10 half-open TCP is a bit too limited for my tastes. I think I set mine to 200 or something. Of course, if I ever get a worm, my network is going to choke and die from the flood, but eh.
